STATEMENT ON CORONAVIRUS CONCERNS
The current COVID-19 pandemic has altered many daily activities and routines. The Great Amazing Race staff will continue to monitor the COVID 19 pandemic as we get closer to each city race and update you throughout the process. We will be instituting new hygiene and sanitary measures, as set forth by state and local health officials to ensure the safety of each and every participant, spectator, volunteer, sponsor and staff member. These measures will be taken to insure every participant the most enjoyable experience possible. Here are a few examples of the changes:
Taking The Temperature of Every Attendee
- To ensure the safety of all attendees: anyone entering the event area will have their temperature taken to eliminate any person(s) who may be running a fever. Any person entering the event area with a temperature over 100.4 degrees will be asked to leave. This will be conducted with a thermal scanner. This non evasive system is highly accurate and will allow for the safest possible activity conditions.
Limiting Participant Numbers
- We will be reducing the number of teams per start time and in each wave.
New Onsite Plan
- We have created a new master layout that follows social distancing guidelines.
- All venues will be required to meet the latest health and safety guidelines as set forth by the area health officials, as it pertains to common areas.
These are just a few of the many changes we will be implementing. Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you at the race.
Gregory Benton, President, Great Amazing Race Company
The Great Amazing Race leadership is actively monitoring the on-going developments of COVID-19 with the safety and well-being of our participants and staff as the top priority. We will continue to follow recommendations from the CDC, in conjunction with local/state/federal health officials as it pertains to our races.
We are not planning to cancel any races. Presently, all events through mid June are being rescheduled to later in the year and those registrations are automatically forwarded to the new race dates. For those that the new date does not work, we will allow transfers to another individual or any future race. All other races are scheduled to move forward as planned.
We will be implementing new infection control measures for all future races. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this unusual of circumstances.
